Bodegas Lustau is a renowned Sherry producer located in Andalucia. The winery’s history dates back to 1896 when José Ruiz-Berdejo, a court clerk, started making wines from his family’s estate. Ruiz-Berdejo sold his wines to larger Sherry producers, making him an Almacenista, which is someone who buys newly made wine and matures it.
In 1931, Ruiz-Berdejo’s daughter, Maria Ruiz-Berdejo Alberti, acquired a winery and moved production to a site closer to the center of Jerez de la Frontera.
Bodegas Lustau is considered a world-class benchmark for top-quality wines. In 2016, the International Wine and Spirit Competition named Bodegas Lustau Best Sherry Producer and ranked it number 7 in the WAWWJ “Top 100 wineries in the world” annual ranking. Bodegas Lustau has also won the Enoforum contest, the Bacchus awards, and the International Wine Competition of Andalusia.
