Red - Savory and Classic

The 2016 Clos des Jacobins has a well defined bouquet with blackberry, bilberry, plum and cherry fruit, lined with light floral and savoury hints, all carried by fine chalky minerality that lingers on the finish. The palate is medium-bodied with a slight chewy entry. Feels bold, assertive and dense.

Description

Château Clos des Jacobins

The Clos des Jacobins vineyard in Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux dates back to the 1700s. The vineyard’s name comes from the Benedictine monks who were baptized as Jacobins in reference to Saint-Jacques, the patron saint of the Parisian convent. The Jacobins lived on the outskirts of Saint-Emilion and used the farm buildings to accommodate pilgrims.

The vineyard’s modern era began in 1964 when it was purchased by Jean Georges Cordier. In the 19th century, it was owned by the Cordes and Vauthier families.

The vineyard is located at the entrance to the medieval town, in the heart of the Saint-Emilion estates. It’s situated on land that once belonged to the Church.

The Clos des Jacobins Saint-Emilion Grand Cru wine has received good scores from various critics. The 2022 vintage was given a score of 95 by Andreas Larsson.
