The Sauvion family has been at the head of Château du Cléray since the middle of the 20th century. From father to son, the family works together and like to define themselves not only as simple winegrowers but also as “makers of pleasure”.

Vintage after vintage, winemaking techniques and vine work evolve strongly, as does the vineyard. In 1935, only 30 hectares of vines were worked. About ten years later, the family bought back the Domaine du Cléray vineyard to create the vineyard as we know it today.

Pierre-Jean, son of Yves Sauvion, is now taking over the estate as an experienced oenologist. It produces complex wines that it markets in more than 80 countries around the world. The family particularly likes to travel around France to present their latest vintages to Loire wine lovers.
