In 1991, Luis Alberto Gimenez and his wife Marta Mendez, with a long tradition in the wine business, decided to start producing premium wines in unique styles. Focused since the beginning on taming the national Uruguayan grape – Tannat – GIMENEZ MENDEZ is now one of the leading wine exporters of the country, producing outstanding wines with a particular affinity for gastronomy.

Now the new generation, Mauro Giménez Mendez, the youngest son of the family, is the chief winemaker. Mauro has been vital in the family’s quest to produce high quality wines focussing on Tannat, Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc. He works together with a committed oenological team to express the terroir in every bottle.
