In early 1997, Andrew Gunn, an engineer by training, was considering his next career move. Since he had always loved nature, the prospect of a farm appealed to him. After months of searching and 40 farm visits later, Andrew and his very tired real estate agent came across a lonely, run-down apple farm on a mountaintop overlooking the Atlantic Ocean – the winery’s vision Iona was born.

The philosophy of Iona is it, To produce wines that reflect the soil and climate as best as possible. Sustainable farming methods are used and the use of natural products in agriculture and winemaking is maximized. Everything will be on that Winery made.
