La Vierge is a family-owned winery that has been producing outstanding and unique wines for more than ten years. The the name of the winery means ‘virgin’ in French, and takes its inspiration from the nearby Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in the region of Overberg. The area is also famous for the whale-watching town of Hermanus. The Johnson Family originally designed the winery in 1997, and was purchased by the La Vierge family the same year. Renovations at the winery were completed in 2007, and now boasts state-of-the-art machinery and modern winemaking facilities.

The north side of the renovated winery has a double volume production facility while there is a sunken maturation room with unique oak barrels on the south side.
