Meerlust Estate

Meerlust Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir from South Africa
$ 39.50
750ml
Red - Light and Perfumed
Stellenbosch

The wine shows a vibrant garnet colour with a youthful appearance. On the nose the wine shows pronounced lifted floral perfume with a brooding and seductive red berry fruit, earthy, wild mushrooms, and hints of spice. On the palate there are very pure Pinot fruit flavours on entry with red cherry and musk flavours coupled with fresh acidity. The wine has layered complexity with great elegance and finesse. Fine lacy, almost powdery tannin on the finish.

Description

Meerlust Estate

Meerlust Estate is a winery in South Africa that has been owned by the Myburgh family since
1756. The estate is a national treasure and a 17th century National Monument.

The estate’s name, Meerlust, means “pleasure of the sea”. The first owner, Henning Huysing,
a German immigrant, settled on the property in 1693. He named the estate because of its
proximity to the cool waters of False Bay.

The Myburgh family has produced world-class wines at Meerlust Estate. The current owner,
Hannes Myburgh, is the eighth generation of the family to own the estate. He studied wine
making at Geisenheim in Germany.

The estate has Cape Dutch architecture and beautiful vineyards.
